At today’s session, GEN energija’s Supervisory Board reached an agreement with CEO Blaž Košorok on the early termination of his term of office. Mr Košorok’s term of office will come to an end with the appointment of a new CEO or by no later than 15 November 2022. Smooth operations and decision making will thus be ensured in the coming period. GEN’s Supervisory Board would like to thank the departing CEO for a job well done during his term of office, and wishes him a great deal of success in his future career. Due to the early termination of the current CEO’s term of office, the Supervisory Board has tasked the HR committee with the performance of all activities necessary for the appointment of a new CEO, in accordance with GEN d.o.o.’s articles of incorporation.
Following the conclusion of the aforementioned agreement, Blaž Košorok said, “This year has been very challenging for GEN in the face of uncertain and rapidly changing conditions on the energy markets. Despite the unpredictable circumstances, we have continued to successfully fulfil our mission and reliably supplied electricity to Slovenian customers at an affordable price. Through the extremely responsible and prudent management of the adverse conditions, we have implemented important measures and ensured the uninterrupted supply of electricity, together with the management personnel of all GEN Group companies. We believe that the company and GEN Group have the right strategic policies in place, as well as the technical bases for further development and successful operations. The energy crisis has clearly exposed the need for the self-sufficient production of electricity in Slovenia and Europe, and confirmed the importance of stable, reliable and affordable electricity production sources, one of which is undoubtedly nuclear energy. In the scope of the JEK2 project, the GEN Group and Slovenia face an extremely important strategic decision, if we wish to responsibly ensure energy independence, affordable energy and the actual transition to low carbon sources for Slovenian customers over the long term. I will continue to actively monitor and support that project. As I conclude my term of office, I would like to thank all the GEN Group’s stakeholders for their cooperation and constructive relations, and in particular all of my colleagues at GEN energija.”
