A renewable energy source
Electricity from low-carbon and renewable hydropower is generated by the companies Savske elektrarne Ljubljana (SEL) and Hidroelektrarne na Spodnji Savi (HESS).
Electricity generation from this particular source holds a special place in the GEN Group's production portfolio. Thanks to remarkable water levels of the River Sava, our hydroelectric power plants contributed 14% to the GEN Group's total electricity production output in 2022.
SEL generates electricity in the following hydroelectric power plants:
- Moste HPP,
- Mavčiče HPP,
- Medvode HPP, and
- Vrhovo HPP.
HESS generates electricity in the following hydroelectric power plants:
- Boštanj HPP,
- Arto - Blanca HPP,
- Krško HPP, and
- Brežice HPP.

The World of Energy – an interactive multimedia centre that takes visitors on a journey into the world of energy and energy technologies.
eSvet - responsible energy future
eSvet is a web portal highlighting interesting facts on energy and energy technologies to be taken into account when building a responsible energy future.
The Young in the World of Energy
The project is designed to raise awareness of sustainable energy sources among primary and secondary school students and mentoring teachers and professors in Slovenia's primary and secondary schools and halls of residence.
